WASHINGTON — Today, global tech trade association ITI welcomed the release of finalized guidance for U.S. federal agencies as they consider regulations for artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The first-of-its-kind guidance, issued as part of the implementation of the February 2019 Executive Order on Artificial Intelligence, aligns with the OECD AI Principles supported by over 40 countries around the world.

“Artificial Intelligence is revolutionizing the way we all work, learn, and interact with technology,” said John Miller, Senior Vice President for Policy and Senior Counsel at ITI. “It is encouraging to see the U.S. advance flexible and risk-based guidance, which will allow for a thoughtful approach to regulating AI technology and encourage its responsible use, while also promoting a robust innovation ecosystem. Our industry looks forward to working collaboratively with U.S. government officials to further these goals and ensure that AI benefits all communities.”
