WASHINGTON – Today technology industry trade group ITI, the global voice of the tech sector, announced it is expanding its European engagement by hiring seasoned policy expert Guido Lobrano to launch its permanent presence in Europe. As ITI’s Senior Director of Global Policy for Europe, Lobrano will be based in Brussels and will lead ITI’s public policy efforts to engage with the European Union (EU) and Member States and will also work to strengthen relationships with other technology and business groups in Europe.

“We are thrilled to have Guido join the ITI team. Guido is the best person for this role because he is not only an unquestionable policy expert but is respected in Brussels and throughout Europe,” Senior Vice President for Global Policy Josh Kallmer said. “Europe is a critical market for global technology companies, and having an experienced policy professional on the ground will help ITI add to the good work that we and our partner tech industry groups already undertake there. We look forward to advancing our perspective as a global association in the policy debates around technology and acting as a bridge between the United States, Europe, and Asia, among other regions.”

“I am excited to contribute to and enhance ITI’s policy initiatives,” Lobrano said. “ITI enjoys a great reputation already, which I plan on bolstering by engaging with key policy makers on behalf of ITI member companies to drive policies that promote innovation throughout the EU and global economy.”

Lobrano joins ITI from BUSINESSEUROPE, where he served as deputy director for legal affairs and internal market, leading the organization’s advocacy efforts on digital economy and single market issues, including competition policy. He previously worked as a lawyer in Europe and the United States, focusing on European and international law. Prior to that, Lobrano spent time as a university research fellow in Italy where he also taught classes.

Lobrano holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Sassari where he focused on International and EU law and business, economics, and finance. In addition, he holds a Master’s Degree in European Studies from Université Libre de Bruxelles and Belgian-Italian Chamber of Commerce.
