WASHINGTON – The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), the global voice of the tech sector, released the following statement from President and CEO Dean Garfield on bipartisan legislation introduced today by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Tex.) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) to create the National Commission on Security and Technology Challenges:

"Constructive engagement is not just a buzzword, it is an important concept that requires creativity and leadership. We commend Chairman McCaul's and Senator Warner's efforts to address this complicated issue,” Garfield said. “Solutions for today's toughest challenges can only be found once a thoughtful dialogue begins, and this is the beginning of the conversation. We look forward to working with the Chairman and Senator to ensure the dialogue addresses the needs of law enforcement as well as the rights of citizens to security, privacy, and public safety.”
