WASHINGTON – The IT Alliance for the Public Sector (ITAPS), a division of ITI, commends the House and Senate conferees for including key government IT modernization provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), H.R. 2810, and urges both chambers to act quickly to send the bill to the President for his signature. The bill, released today, includes the Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Act, which will authorize additional funding flexibility for agencies in their efforts to modernize IT to create more secure government networks and keep pace with innovation.

“Today is an important day for taxpayers across the country because the MGT Act will streamline and modernize how we fund our IT,” said Senior Vice President for the Public Sector Trey Hodgkins. “Agencies will now be able to use efficiencies to fund investments in innovative, up-to-date technologies that will protect Americans’ sensitive information, bolster our nation’s cybersecurity, and bring the federal government into the 21st century. We thank Representatives Hurd, Kelly, and Connolly, and Senators Moran, Udall, Daines, and Warner for their leadership on this important proposal.”

ITAPS has been vocal in calling for the passage of the MGT Act. Earlier this year, ITAPS wrote a key vote letter to lawmakers about passing this crucial legislation.
