Saclay, France – Today, Jason Oxman, President and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), represented the global technology industry at the second meeting of the EU-U.S. Trade and Technology Council (TTC).

“The U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council has an important role to play in advancing the digital economy globally,” Oxman said. “As leaders from both sides of the Atlantic seek to leverage this pivotal time, global cooperation on secure supply chains, 6G, export controls, AI, and more is paramount. U.S.-EU efforts to lead a globally coordinated response to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine have reinforced the importance of this transatlantic cooperation, particularly in times of crisis.

“We welcome the TTC’s commitments to advancing new and emerging technologies, mitigating climate change, and enhancing security, market access, and resiliency,” he continued. “ITI is proud to partner with the TTC to address these generation-defining issues and looks and looks forward to working to ensure the TTC’s ongoing success.”

Ahead of today’s meeting, ITI issued Global Priority Outcomes, calling on U.S. and EU leaders to support research and development for 6G technology and collaborate on building more secure and resilient supply chains for semiconductors and the broader information and communications technology (ICT) industry, among other priorities. ITI’s priorities are informed by ongoing, comprehensive engagement with the TTC following ITI's representation of the global technology industry during the TTC’s inaugural meeting in Pittsburgh in September 2021, and its recommendations in January 2021, July 2021 and January 2022. In February 2022, ITI outlined a list of priorities to inform the TTC discussions on Working Group 10: Global Trade Challenges.
