WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association ITI applauded President Biden’s executive actions to address climate change, invest in clean technologies and resilient infrastructure, and advance science-based policymaking.
“Climate change is a crisis that demands an immediate, meaningful, and global response from all parts of society – including governments and the private sector,” said ITI President and CEO Jason Oxman. “The tech industry is heartened by President Biden’s focus on science in addressing climate change. We applaud today’s executive actions that apply a whole-of-government approach, use sound science, reestablish the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, and invest in clean technologies and resilient infrastructure to develop policies and solutions for a more sustainable future. We further welcome the administration’s environmental justice efforts to address the disproportionate health, environmental, economic, and climate impacts on disadvantaged communities. These measures will spur U.S. economic growth, create jobs, improve health, and enhance the overall quality of life. ITI and our members look forward to working with our partners – in the Biden-Harris Administration, U.S. Congress, industry, and around the globe – to revolutionize the way we protect our planet through technology.”
ITI recently released 50 policy recommendations that will make the United States more globally competitive, including calling on the Biden-Harris Administration and Congress to assert renewed and strong climate policy leadership and to leverage technology to achieve a net zero carbon future.
