WASHINGTON – ITI President and CEO Dean Garfield released the following statement in support of the Trump Administration’s executive order regarding workforce development and their support of the Carl D. Perkins Act.

“With over 3 million open STEM jobs across the country, workforce retraining and life-long learning are national imperatives that require immediate attention. We applaud the White House for its continued efforts to prioritize retraining and reskilling initiatives and the creation of a national workforce strategy, which will emphasize strong partnerships between the private and public sectors.

“We also understand efforts like these alone will not put more Americans to work. We appreciate the White House putting its support behind modernizing the Carl D. Perkins Act, legislation that will help countless Americans get the skills they need for the 21st century. As more jobs become digitized, the time to solve this problem is now.”
