Policy - Basel Convention
Basel Convention
ITI has engaged for years in Basel Convention efforts to ensure the proper classification and environmentally sound management of e-wastes. Our focus has been to promote reasonable controls that encourage legitimate reuse of products and sound recycling at end-of-life while preventing unscrupulous brokers from dumping e-waste on developing countries. ITI also works with recyclers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to identify the best practices for sustainable recycling and incorporates those into standards, such as the Responsible Recycling (R2) Standard for Electronics Recyclers.
